5 Phrases
"That's neither here nor there."
"What's that got to do with the price of tea in china?"
"I can only do this once. Unless I have to do it again."
"I'm guessing you're drunk."
"I like you more today than I did yesterday. Check back with me next week, we'll see how you're doing."
Scene: Man and woman out to dinner in a nice restaurant. Music plays softly in the background and the mood is further set by the low lighting. They are seated at a small booth, facing each other, holding hands. The small slice of cake with the candle stuck in it signifies that it's her birthday.
Man: Happy Birthday, sweetheart.
Woman: Thanks. I can't believe I'm turning 30.
Man: That's neither here nor there! Age is just a number.
Woman: Actually, it's more than that. I'm about to be thirty.
Man: What's that got to do with the price of tea in China?
Woman: I have no idea. I don't drink tea. But what it does have to do with is you and I. It's time we...I mean, YOU, make a commitment. We've been together for four years now. We spend all of our time together. I want my dream wedding. I want kids. I want the white picket fence and all the other crap that comes with it. I've given my whole self to you but I'm almost out of time. I can only do this once. Unless I have to do it again.
Man: I'm guessing you're drunk.
Woman: (Angry) I am NOT drunk Johnny, I'm serious. I need a committment, I need to know we have some kind of future together.
Man: Future? You want future? I got you. Let me break it down for you. You're awesome. I like you more today than I did yesterday. Check back with me next week, we'll see how you're doing. Boom, future!
Woman smashes cake into man's face and storms out, close scene.
